66 Urban Villages in Jakarta are Flood Free

River and water channel normalization conducted by Jakarta Provincial Government starts to give the result. As many as 66 urban villages in the capital are flood free. Last year, the areas were always flooded.

“66 Urban Villages are not flooded anymore. River and water channel normalizations have been conducted,” he said, Thursday (9/29).

Water Management Dept Still Needs More Blue Taskforces

According to the data, of 267 urban villages in Jakarta, 108 of them are impacted by flood. 37 urban villages are flooded this year, while the remaining 71 urban villages are always flooded.

Meanwhile, 87 urban villages are flood free, seven of them is in Seribu Island.

“Flood free urban villages are Kampung Pulo in Kampung Melayu, and Petamburan,” he added.

This year, flood spot is detected in South Jakarta. Last year, flood hit northern area such as North Jakarta, West Jakarta, and East Jakarta.
